where can I get replacement bulbs and more?

So where can I get a replacement vintage style/edison light bulb?

This is a question that we get a few times each day that we are working in our booth at the art shows and it is a fair question.  Sometimes the question becomes a bigger part of the conversation than the lamps themselves.  It is kind of funny that I have to remind people that it's "Love your lamp and choose your bulb".  Every lamp goes home with the bulb that the individual customer selects as what they believe is the coolest bulb for that particular lamp.

So, we keep with us a variety of both incandescent and LED bulbs in lots of different glass shapes and filament designs along with a choice of wattage brightness.  Some customers struggle more with choosing the bulb than they do with selecting the lamp.  I just try not to laugh out loud through this torturous experience.

Here is a quick link to get started keeping in mind that there are many places to get them, also noting that although they are currently available in a wide assortment, they are not necessarily as expensive as one might think.  And sometimes "Free Shipping" is available.

On an even larger scale, many people are using these vintage style light bulbs in many areas of the home.  It does give a nice warm feel to a room that doesn't require bright lighting.

Although LFTA is about 9 years old and we have built and sold nearly 3800 lamps, we've never taken the time to put into our website the answers to so many FAQs that we get.

So, here we go:
  • Yes, we walk miles of antique stores looking for anything that has "lamp potential" written all over it.
  • No, we don't buy through auctions, because I don't have time to wait for an item to come up only to get outbid by a guy who doesn't have a price limit.
  • Yes, we hand-pick ALL of the antiques that we re-purpose into a lamp.
  • No, our attic has been empty now for years...
  • Yes, almost 100% of the antiques that we choose for our lamps are Made in the USA.
  • No, we do NOT use reproductions or knock-off "antiques".
  • Yes, the light bulbs are all brand new and very easy to replace. (More on this topic later.)
  • No, not everything can be turned into a lamp.  I draw the line at taxidermy.
  • Yes, we often use a customer's sentimentally valued antique and work with that. (We may have 10 camera lamps, but, we don't have your grandfather's camera.  I get it.)
  • No, competition is not an issue for us.  I often say that you can put 10 lamp guys side by side and our styles are so different from each other that we don't really complete for the business.  The customer will like mine and not the others or the other way around.
  • Yes, I highly encourage people to take on a project of their own and use my lamps as an example.  I even talk a home DIYer through the process in general terms to help him along.

Oh, yes, the questions can go on and on.  Yet, I love to hear all of the stories that people bring to the conversation when we are standing in our booth 500 miles from home.  I often encourage school teachers to use my website for examples when the topic is repurposing and recycling.  It's just one way of giving back to society.

LFTA is operated by just the two of us incredibly nice people.  I, Al, build all of the lamps and drive the truck.  My wife, Edna, does ALL of the paperwork and LFTA wouldn't exist without her.
